This blog had its seeds planted in 2008, when I spent a year abroad in Hong Kong and China (hence the site name). The frequency of updates have been victim to my own laziness as well as China’s “Great Firewall.”
Typically, I would assail the task of conveying my day-to-day happenings for purposes of communication with family and friends. That purpose is now morphing into a more focused and commentary based style of writing.
I have graduated college, and am moving back to China for work. Amazingly enough, I will not be one of the many English teachers of China that seem to flounder about. Instead, I will be working in Shenzhen (the heart of China’s workshop) with an American battery manufacturer. NO, I am not the ultimate migrant worker.
I hope to turn this blog into a running log (rlog?) of my experiences and perceptions of China as it moves at a blazing speed. I hope to touch upon labor markets, the economy, law, and anything that just doesn’t make sense. This blog will still carry a casual feel to it. It will just reach a depth beyond “I just ate chicken liver!!”… or not, hehe.
I appreciate your visits, and please engage me through comments. Enjoy.
